With more than 41 years of experience, John Cairns has particular skill in guiding highly successful executives and entrepreneurs and their spouses to achieve equitable and creative outcomes in complex family matters. Having himself survived a divorce for more than 27 years and being very happily remarried, John knows personally how good lawyering can serve parties’ interests in a time of emotional trauma and uncertainty.

John Cairns’ Family Law practice area is intentionally focused on a limited number of cases. Rather than juggling 30-40 cases at a time, John typically represents a handful of clients at a time and is intimately familiar with the details of each case. This is to ensure that each of John’s clients receive the appropriate, personal and consistent attention that is necessary to win a favorable outcome.

He is an exceptional negotiator and a strong advocate for his clients, with a keen ability to keep clients focused on making the best choices for their future. John also has many years of experience drafting pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements for wealthy clients.
